Korea's Full-Body Health Checkup: What's Included and Why Executives Are Flying In for It

10 min readBy MyDoc Korea
Modern health screening center in Seoul with advanced diagnostic equipment for executive checkups

What if you could get a world-class, head-to-toe health screening — with sedation endoscopy, multi-organ CT imaging, cancer markers, cancer gene testing, and same-day results — for less than you would pay for a basic physical at home? Thousands of international executives and health-conscious travelers are discovering that Korea offers exactly that. We offer three programs designed specifically for international patients — Standard ($500), VIP ($1,000), and VVIP ($2,000) — and here is exactly what each one includes.

Why Korea for a Health Checkup?

Korea has emerged as a global leader in preventive health screening for three reasons:

  • Technology: Korean hospitals use some of the most advanced diagnostic equipment in the world, including AI-powered image analysis that can detect abnormalities human eyes might miss
  • Efficiency: What takes weeks of separate appointments in many countries is completed in a single day (4-6 hours) in Korea
  • Price: Comprehensive screening costs 50-80% less than comparable checkups in the US, Singapore, or Australia

Health Checkup Packages: What Is Included

We offer three programs for international patients. All prices are in USD, sedation endoscopy is included in every package, and same-day results are available.

Standard Checkup — $500 (approx. ₩900,000)

The entry-level comprehensive screening. You choose 2 of 9 CT scans, and the package includes a full ultrasound, endoscopy, and blood/urine workup:

  • CT scans — choose 2 of 9: Abdomen CT (contrast), Abdominal Fat CT (visceral & subcutaneous fat), Sinus CT, Brain CT (tumors, stroke, hemorrhage), Lung CT (cancer, nodules, TB, pneumonia), Lumbar Spine CT, Cervical Spine CT, Cardiac Echo (special ultrasound), Breast Ultrasound (female)
  • Ultrasound: Upper abdomen (liver, kidney, pancreas, gallbladder), prostate (male) or uterus & ovary (female), thyroid, carotid artery (stroke risk)
  • Endoscopy (sedation): Gastroscopy (stomach & esophageal cancer, ulcers) and colonoscopy (colon cancer, polyps, colitis)
  • Additional exams: Bone density (BMD) for osteoporosis, ECG, body composition analysis
  • Blood tests: Tumor markers (AFP, CA19-9, CEA, Ferritin, PSA/CA125), hepatitis panel (A, B, C), thyroid function (TSH, FT4), liver function (9 items), kidney (5 items), pancreas, diabetes (glucose, HbA1c), lipid panel (4 items), inflammation, rheumatoid, STD (syphilis, HIV), anemia (iron, TIBC, UIBC), CBC (12 types), differential count (10 types)
  • Urine tests: Urinalysis (10 types) and urine microscopy (7 types)

Note: A contrast agent fee (₩120,000) is charged separately for the Abdomen CT. Polyp removal and biopsy fees are additional.

This standard package already includes more tests than most "executive physicals" in the United States that cost $2,000-$5,000.

VIP Checkup — $1,000

Includes all Standard program items, plus the following upgrades:

  • CT / special ultrasound — choose 3: upgraded from 2 to 3 selections from the same menu of 9
  • Cancer Gene Test: genetic risk screening — 6 cancer types for men (stomach, colon, lung, liver, prostate, thyroid) and 7 for women (the above plus breast, ovarian, uterine)
  • Stress Assessment (OmniFit): brainwave-based measurement of concentration, stress levels, and cognitive activity prediction
  • Recovery IV Drip (Licorice): post-checkup IV therapy for fatigue recovery, liver support, anti-inflammation, and immune boosting — included complimentary

Note: Contrast agent fee and polyp removal / biopsy fees are charged separately.

VVIP Checkup — $2,000

The most comprehensive screening available. Includes all VIP items plus premium exclusive additions — and the PICO laser is included free:

  • Abdomen CT (contrast) included — contrast agent fee fully waived
  • CT / tests — choose 3 of 8: Fat CT, Sinus, Brain, Lung, Lumbar, Cervical, Liver Fibrosis, Alzheimer's (AlzOn early prediction)
  • Arterial Stiffness Test: atherosclerosis risk assessment
  • Cardiac Echo (men) / Breast Ultrasound (women) included as standard
  • Exclusive blood tests (VVIP only): hormones (testosterone for men / LH for women), dementia markers (HS-CRP, homocysteine), vitamins B12, B9 & D3, autoimmune (ANA — lupus, Sjögren's, autoimmune hepatitis), H. pylori IgG (stomach cancer risk bacteria), electrolytes (6 items: Ca, Cl, Pi, K, Na, Mg)
  • Premium Nutrition IV Drip: total care for recovery, immunity, and nutrients

Note: Contrast agent fee is included for VVIP. Polyp removal and biopsy fees are additional.

Advanced Diagnostics: Korea's Edge

Our programs go well beyond standard blood work and imaging. The VIP and VVIP tiers add next-generation screening tools you rarely find bundled into a single checkup:

  • Cancer Gene Test: genetic risk screening for 6 cancer types in men and 7 in women — identifying predisposition before symptoms appear (VIP and VVIP)
  • OmniFit stress assessment: brainwave-based measurement of concentration, stress levels, and cognitive activity prediction (VIP selectable, VVIP included)
  • AlzOn Alzheimer's early prediction: early dementia-risk imaging, paired with HS-CRP and homocysteine dementia markers (VVIP)
  • Arterial Stiffness Test: direct atherosclerosis and cardiovascular risk assessment (VVIP)
  • PICO laser included free: the VVIP package adds a complimentary PICO laser treatment — a wellness bonus on top of the medical screening

Combined with sedation gastroscopy and colonoscopy for comfort, multi-organ CT, and a same-day physician review, this catches more potential issues at earlier stages than a traditional physical alone.

The Day-Of Experience

Here is what a typical screening day looks like:

  1. 7:00 AM: Arrive at the screening center (fasting required from midnight)
  2. 7:15 AM: Change into comfortable hospital-provided clothing, locker for belongings
  3. 7:30 – 11:30 AM: Move through testing stations. The hospital manages the flow — you simply follow your coordinator to each station
  4. 11:30 AM: Light meal provided after endoscopy/blood work stations are complete
  5. 12:00 – 1:00 PM: Remaining tests and physician consultation for preliminary results
  6. 1:00 PM: Done. Full detailed report delivered digitally within 5-7 days

The entire process is designed for international patients. Multilingual coordinators guide you through every step, and all signage is typically in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese.

Who Should Consider a Korean Health Checkup?

  • Executives and professionals: Annual screening is essential for anyone in high-stress careers. Korea offers the most thorough screening at the best value
  • Ages 40+: Cancer screening and cardiac evaluation become increasingly important. Korea's packages include tests that are often optional extras elsewhere
  • Family history of cancer or heart disease: Early detection saves lives. The VIP and VVIP cancer gene tests, multi-organ CT, and arterial stiffness testing can catch risks years before symptoms appear
  • Medical tourists: Already traveling to Korea for cosmetic or other procedures? Add a health checkup to your trip for a comprehensive health investment
  • Health-conscious travelers: Combining a Seoul vacation with a health checkup is increasingly popular. Screen in the morning, explore Gangnam in the afternoon

Combining Your Health Checkup with Other Treatments

Many MyDoc Korea patients combine their health checkup with other services during their trip:

  • Health checkup + dermatological treatments (PDRN, lasers)
  • Health checkup + dental examination and cleaning
  • Health checkup + eye examination (for vision correction candidates)
  • Health checkup + wellness treatments (IV therapy, acupuncture)
