Korean Skincare Routine After Professional Treatments: Do's and Don'ts

Post-treatment Korean skincare routine products for safe recovery

Proper aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself. Following the wrong routine after a professional procedure can lead to complications, extended downtime, or reduced results. Here is the Korean dermatologist-approved guide.

Universal Do's After Any Treatment

  • Do apply SPF 50+ religiously: Your skin is more vulnerable to UV after any treatment
  • Do keep skin hydrated: Use gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers
  • Do follow your clinic's specific instructions: They may differ from general advice
  • Do sleep on your back: Avoid pressing treated areas against pillows
  • Do drink plenty of water: Internal hydration supports skin healing

Universal Don'ts After Any Treatment

  • Don't use active ingredients: No retinol, AHA/BHA, vitamin C for at least 3-7 days (varies by treatment)
  • Don't touch or pick: Keep hands off treated areas to prevent infection
  • Don't exercise intensely: Sweat and increased blood flow can irritate treated skin (wait 48-72 hours)
  • Don't use hot water: Lukewarm water only for cleansing
  • Don't visit saunas or pools: Heat and chlorine are harmful to healing skin
  • Don't apply makeup: Wait at least 24 hours, longer for ablative treatments

Treatment-Specific Aftercare

After Skin Boosters (PDRN, Profhilo)

  • Small bumps at injection sites are normal—they resolve within 24-48 hours
  • Avoid makeup for 12-24 hours
  • Resume normal routine after 2-3 days
  • Actives can be reintroduced after 3 days

After Laser Treatments

  • Redness and mild swelling for 1-5 days is expected
  • Apply prescribed recovery cream or ointment
  • No actives for 5-7 days minimum
  • No direct sun for 2-4 weeks

After RF Microneedling

  • Redness similar to sunburn for 2-3 days
  • Small scabs may form—do not pick them
  • Use only prescribed products for first 3 days
  • Resume gentle routine after day 3-5
